If you find there’s still too much month left at the end of the money, I suggest making a classic coleslaw salad! It’s cheap, hearty, healthy (fiber and vitamins!), texturally satisfying, quick, and thanks to the dressing, very flavorful. The salad is of American origin, often found in burgers and hot dogs, but it’s also delicious on its own, for example, with a cutlet if you have one.
Coleslaw recipe
In our cuisine, we have a similar salad made only of cabbage and carrots. But it’s usually made with salt and vinegar. It also turns out tasty and nutritious. However, it’s completely different!
It’s ideal to use early white cabbage for coleslaw, but mature cabbage works too; it will just be less tender. You may need to mash the cabbage more and cut it finer, or even grate it if you can. But with early cabbage, it’s simply perfect!
I recently discovered coleslaw, and it pleasantly surprised me. Give it a try! Below is a step-by-step recipe with photos.
