Meatballs are a fairly popular meat dish that is made from minced meat. It can be served together with spaghetti or with any side dish. Such meat meatballs in tomato sauce will be a very hearty and tasty dish, which you can easily prepare at home.
Meatballs in tomato sauce
Ingredients
To prepare meatballs you will need:
- 1 kg ground beef
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup parmesan
- 1 onion
- salt, pepper
- Italian herbs;
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
To make the tomato sauce, the following ingredients are needed:
- 1/2 cup olive oil;
- 1 onion;
- 2 tsp. garlic powder;
- 6 tbsp. tomato paste;
- 3 cups chopped canned tomatoes;
- 2 tsp. salt;
- 1/2 tsp. pepper/

Meatballs in tomato sauce: preparation steps
- Place a skillet over medium heat. Heat the olive oil, add the chopped onion and 2 tsp of garlic powder. Saute until the onions are golden.
- Add tomato paste and cook for 1 min. Stir in the chopped tomatoes, salt and pepper. Simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- In a large bowl combine the minced meat, eggs, garlic, breadcrumbs, parmesan, chopped onion, salt, pepper and Italian herbs. Mix everything well. Form small balls and transfer to a baking tray.
- Bake the meatballs for 10-15 minutes, then flip them to the other side and cook for a couple more minutes.
- Transfer the meatballs to the tomato sauce in a skillet and cook with the lid on low heat for 90 minutes.
