Ingredients
  

To prepare meatballs you will need:

  • 1 kg ground beef
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup parmesan
  • 1 onion
  • salt, pepper
  • Italian herbs;
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder

To make the tomato sauce, the following ingredients are needed:

  • 1/2 cup olive oil;
  • 1 onion;
  • 2 tsp. garlic powder;
  • 6 tbsp. tomato paste;
  • 3 cups chopped canned tomatoes;
  • 2 tsp. salt;
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper/

Meatballs in tomato sauce: preparation steps

  • Place a skillet over medium heat. Heat the olive oil, add the chopped onion and 2 tsp of garlic powder. Saute until the onions are golden.
  • Add tomato paste and cook for 1 min. Stir in the chopped tomatoes, salt and pepper. Simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  • In a large bowl combine the minced meat, eggs, garlic, breadcrumbs, parmesan, chopped onion, salt, pepper and Italian herbs. Mix everything well. Form small balls and transfer to a baking tray.
  • Bake the meatballs for 10-15 minutes, then flip them to the other side and cook for a couple more minutes.
  • Transfer the meatballs to the tomato sauce in a skillet and cook with the lid on low heat for 90 minutes.
