The popular French sauce “Bechamel” has many variations of preparation besides the classic recipe. One of them is using sour cream instead of milk. Sour cream Bechamel sauce: ingredients

In this recipe, the main ingredients correspond to the classic version of “Bechamel”, except for replacing milk with sour cream and water, as well as adding an egg. So, you will need:

  • 50 g of butter;
  • 6 tablespoons of flour;
  • 350 ml of sour cream (store-bought);
  • 150 ml of water;
  • egg;
  • ½ tsp. nutmeg spice;
  • pinch of salt.

How to properly prepare Bechamel sauce?

  1. Bring the butter in a saucepan over medium heat until dissolved. Then here enter the flour and mix well with a whisk until a homogeneous mass.
  2. Next, add water, continuing to stir the mass, and after that – sour cream. Continue to stir and heat intensively, bringing to the appearance of the first bubbles of the beginning of boiling.
  3. Now add nutmeg to the sauce, lightly salt and remove from the heat. As soon as it cools a little – enter the egg and also quickly stir with a whisk until it dissolves in the mass.
  4. Ready sauce turns out tender and very tasty. It is perfect for lasagna, moussaka, braising meatballs and other dishes.
